I re-entered the workforce this past week. My job is fairly labor intensive and fast paced so the times passes quickly. After learning I had been home tending to my children for several years a couple of people welcomed me back to the “real-world”. I really wasn’t sure how to reply to such comments so those conversations just went down in awkward flames. Literally, I heard the sound of a crashing plane in my head. I fit in like a bucking bronco in a china shop. Then someone asked how many kids I have and where they go to school. It was totally their turn to have no idea what to say…

Our school week went well. The kids ploughed through all of their work and everyone met the goals I had set for the week. Sparkles and Middle Boy received their new science curriculums and we enjoyed looking through their new books. Sparkles chose biology and Middle Boy chose to study birds. They both found ways to incorporate their new science studies into their nature/art journals as well. I am excited to see them thinking of ways to make their books work for them. Sparkles wrote a sweet short story this week from a single line she was given in her language arts course. She really wants to start sharing her work. Today we set up a blog and I hope to help her get her piece edited and posted this week. She is my little writer!

Littlest worked hard this week learning new phonograms, reading, handwriting and math. We

read a bit more about Pocahontas and he did some copywork in his history notebook. This week he read a poem to us during poetry tea time. I love hearing him read!!! Oldest survived his first pre-algebra test. He is also working through his science quickly and will finish it up way before the school year is over. Since he has a big paper to work on in history toward the end of the school year he will be glad for the extra time he is creating for himself.

Middle Boy turned ten this week. I forgot to get him a birthday card. We did take the day off of school on Friday and take him to the Lego store in Cincinnati. We then stopped to eat at Quaker

Steak and Lube before coming home. The restaurant has Corvettes and motorcycles hanging from the ceiling making it is visually interesting. Over the weekend my husband made Middle Boy a Batman Beyond cake with dark chocolate fudge icing. Yum!

Today I sent in my answers for the Brave Writer interview questions. I’ll know in a couple of weeks if I make it to the next step…
